Our stats

Language Centre, the first Cambridge-approved CELTA centre in Sicily, has been delivering the internationally recognised CELTA programme since 2002, offering some of the most affordable training in Southern Italy. With a 97.7% pass rate and an average course rating of 9.4 out of 10, it attracts participants from over 20 countries, including a significant number of non-native English speakers.

The CELTA Course

The Cambridge CELTA course is highly intensive, requiring full attendance and extensive commitment beyond regular workdays, with most evenings and weekends dedicated to homework, assignments, lesson planning, and material preparation. While demanding, many trainees find the experience both rewarding and stimulating, as it equips them with essential teaching principles, practical skills for instructing adult English learners, valuable hands-on practice, and increased confidence in the classroom.

Tutors

All tutors (teacher trainers) have the advanced Cambridge Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Delta), or the Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults (DTEFLA), a sound background of theoretical knowledge, and years of practical classroom experience with monolingual and multilingual groups at all levels. Their qualifications ensure that our CELTA courses incorporate a wide range of teaching principles and practical classroom techniques.

Practice Students

You will be teaching adult volunteer students from a wide variety of language and cultural backgrounds, and you will teach at two distinct levels. The tutors will give you time to meet and get to know your students before they begin to assess your practice teaching. Typically, a TP class will have from ten to fifteen students and will contain students from Italy.

Entry Requirements

Entry to the course is determined by an application form, language task, and selection interview. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a strong awareness of language with a high level of competence in both written and spoken English (C1/C2 on the CEFR), show the potential to develop effective teaching skills and successfully complete the written assignments and teaching practice assessments, and possess a standard of education equivalent to higher education entry requirements.
